Student Expectations

As a public school, students are expected to adhere to the attendance policy for the Academy of Arts and Sciences. The following points are the general expectations of a student attending The Academy of Arts and Sciences:

·       Students are required to log into and progress through each of their classes every weekday; this includes completing work packets as applicable.

·       Students can expect to work about 1 hour per subject or up to six hour a day as per a traditional school, times per subject will vary based on individual student ability.

·       Students are expected to complete the assignments according to the pacing guides provided and reach out to their teachers with questions that prevent them from staying on pace.

·       Students are required to communicate with each of their assigned teachers at least once a week via email, instant messenger, phone or the web-based classroom.

·       Students are assigned activity logs and are required to record in the activity log a brief summary of any work completed either on or offline for the day, including when students attend virtual classes. Students need to update this log weekly and then students must turn these in with a parent signature every 20 days.

·       Despite any technical difficulty students are responsible for logging in every weekday, completing their academics assignments and adhering to the attendance policy. Students have access to the school computer lab to complete work.

·       Students are to attend all state testing in person at a school designated location.
